FAQ About Studying in Romania

Detailed answers to the most common questions Arab students ask before studying in Romania.

Admission & Application

University admission in Romania is obtained by applying directly to the university with translated and certified documents. At Study Gate RO we handle the entire process: from choosing the university and major, to preparing documents, submitting the file, and following up until the official acceptance letter is issued.

In most majors there is no entrance exam — admission is based on your high school certificate and grades. Some medical specializations may require a simple interview.

The general minimum requirement is 60% in your high school certificate. This makes studying in Romania accessible to a wide range of students, unlike other countries requiring very high grades. Medical programs may require higher grades and involve more competition, so we recommend contacting us to assess your real chances based on your grades and desired major.

Admission procedures normally take between 40 and 90 days from the date of official submission to the university, depending on the university and the application season. This is why it is important to start early, as preparing, translating and legalising documents takes additional time before the file is submitted.

Basic documents: Baccalaureate certificate and grades, birth certificate, proof of residence, medical report, valid passport, and personal photo. Master's programs additionally require the Bachelor's degree. English programs require language proficiency certification.

Costs & Fees

Costs are split into two parts: the annual university fee, and monthly living expenses. Here is a realistic breakdown:

Item Cost
Tuition — all majors except medicine 2,000 – 4,000 €/ year
Tuition — medicine, dentistry, pharmacy 6,500 – 11,000 €/ year
Dormitory — public universities 100 – 150 €/ month

In public universities, dormitory costs range from 100 to 150 EUR per month depending on the university and city. In private universities it rises to between 200 and 250 EUR per month. Dormitories are the most affordable and safest option for new students, but places are limited so early booking is recommended. We help secure housing before your arrival as part of the full package.

Food, drinks and daily needs range from 300 to 450 EUR per month for a non-smoking student who mostly cooks at home. Add housing (100-250 EUR) for a total monthly budget of roughly 400 to 700 EUR. Students who rely on restaurants or smoke will see noticeably higher expenses.

Yes, human medicine, dentistry, and pharmacy have higher fees ranging from 6,500 to 11,000 EUR per year depending on the university and specialization, but they remain far lower than medical universities in Western Europe or the US.

Politehnica University Timișoara is the most affordable among Romanian universities, with annual fees ranging from 2,000 to 2,700 EUR depending on the major. Additionally, living costs in Timișoara are lower than in Bucharest, making it an excellent economical choice for students on a limited budget — while maintaining high educational quality, as it is one of Romania's most prestigious technical universities.

Yes, students are entitled to work under a part-time employment contract of 6 hours per day, which is 30 hours per week. This significantly helps cover part of the living expenses during studies.
